Prayer Blogging
I was joking around with Jacob the other day about our Bible study starting a prayer blog so we can keep up with each others prayer requests, needs, praises, etc. Well, here I am. Prayer blogging. Someone please make me more Christian.
I'm not gonna lie. It sort of takes a lot for me to pray these days. I've gotten into this really great habit of harboring all my burdens and only praying when I'm at my wit's end. I'm also gonna be pretty honest when I say I mostly don't pray all that much 'cause my faith in the power of prayer has pretty much gone kaput.
Well, here goes.
Prayer Requests:
1. Mern + bebeh + motivation
2. Dad + health + encouragement
3. Mom
4. Apryl + future plans
5. Me + direction + job things + transitioning into adulthood and being okay with that + just me in general. Lawd knows I need all the prayer I can git!
K that's it for now because I'm too tired.
Oooh, but before I forget...
Praise:
I GOT TO HANG OUT WITH MY BFF TONIGHT. IT'S ABOUT DANG TIME.

Sweet Darlin'

Y'all. I totally got to see the girl of my dreams in real life tonight. And she is beeeeeeauuuuutiful! Seriously. Zooey and M.Ward can go ahead and marry me already.
I can't express to you how good it felt standing in the cold, boogie-in and singin' and bein' happy. Patrick and Apryl better really start a productive band so I can live my rock star life vicariously through them.
Nights like this should happen more often.

LYLAS
It's still so weird to me that everyone, including myself, is growing up. Even weirder, though, is the fact that my little sisters all of a sudden turned into adults. Basically overnight. When did that even happen?! (Apryl, stop drinking - you're too young! Mary, who's buying your cigarettes for you?! You're only fourteen)!
Okay, okay. So I know that Apryl's been old enough to drink for years and Mary turned 14 in 2003...but still. Where does the time go?
Apryl just went on her first real life job interview (go Apes!) and my baby sister is going to have a baby!!!! (Aunt Jenny > Aunt Apey). Life has had it's fun, crazy, sad, and terrible moments - and through all of them, my sisters have been there with me - feeling the same joy and pain that our lives have constantly hit us with. No one else truly understands the pain I feel when an answer is given to "how's dad?" - or the joy in the response I get to give when Mary answers "what?" to "hey Mern, guess what?" It's such a blessing to have people in my life coming from the same place, understanding any sort of emotion I can't express to other people. The three of us have lived life together and gotten each other through some really, really tough times. I honestly don't think I could've dealt with any of life's blows without them. We've kept each other laughing when things got boring, hopeful when things were sad, and strong when things were scary and painful.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. My sisters are the most beautiful people I know.
I LOVE MY SISSIES Y'ALL!

Spring Weekend
After a rocky start to the weekend and much debate in my head, I decided to join Patrick on his trip home to Houston.

We routinely stopped at Buc-ee's on the way up and had ourselves a romantic Buc-ee's parking lot picnic.

(In case you were wondering...yes, Brittany and I DID cut Patrick's beard into pieces!) ...you're welcome :]

(...and even though there's only a picture of me cutting the beard, Brittany was totally there helping and this photograph is proof because you can see her boot. See.... Right there. Brittany's boot.)
So yes. Back to the mini-road trip to Houston. Super fun, right? I got to play video games, eat yummy foods, laugh with my favorite twin brothers + Brittnay, trampoline, and skate a little [and I do mean, very little]. Is balance something I can learn? I sure hope so.
While I really wish I could explain in more detail how relaxing and joyous my weekend was, Daniel Laruso is calling my name and I must oblige or else he'll karate chop me in two!
さようなら!

The Stresses of Blogging
Last night, as I was promoting Abbey's blog, Abbey told me I should start blogging again...and I agree. My only problem is that I have 3 separate accounts on 3 separate blog hosting sites and I can't decide which one to update on...so I update all three anytime I create a new post. It seems redundant and stupid and I honestly think no one reads any of the three...but still! Is there someplace that can just consolidate all my entries and comments from each of my blogs (comments are the funnest part, no?) into one freakin' massive blog? Where's the blog hosting site for the indecisive? And if it exists and I don't know about it - please let me know!!!
A little blogging history:
Jennifer's Xanga:
What can I say? When the whole blog hype went up, I blogged on xanga incessantly. My friends all had xanga's and we'd update every other day or so and comment on each others entries with fun things and I loved it. We even had a xanga for The Sacred Quartet!
Recently, xanga decided to change it's look (I hate it) and decided to place ads everywhere as well. I can hardly navigate through the new interface b/c I'm so used to my old xanga world. New xanga world sucks (not to mention that none of my friends blog nor read blogs anymore).
No way in hail can I forsake my blogging roots.

Jennifer's Blogger:
I made an account with blogger a really long time ago. I don't remember why. Over the summer, my friends and I had a summer poetry thing we tried doing and we used blogger to keep each other updated with our poems of the day. I kind of like this site, I just don't know how to use it yet. It always makes me sign in and I have no idea why. Can't I just look at my freakin' blog and stay signed in already?

Backyards and football and sliding glass doors.
The only thing worth updating about:
Seeing Shannon at David Bazan!
She was standing directly behind me right before David went on to perform.
I seriously haven't seen this girl in years.
And I miss her terribly.
I miss all you old folks terribly.
Life ruins everything!
Never grow up, never give in?
(I definitely just got done perusing old ILOVEKELLERHARBIN xanga entries).
seriously y'all.
I miss you guys.

The dinner table looks different for everyone.
For some, it is in a dining room –
Family seated around a wooden masterpiece,
Manners and light conversation
Secured by a fence.
It is on the couch.
Television pounding.
Telephones ringing.
Voices chattering.
Leftovers waiting for loved ones as they come home.
It is a fast food restaurant
and the only option
is the ninety-nine cent menu
No one cares that in ten, twenty, thirty years -
the hospital bills won’t care how cheap your food was.
It is the front porch
or the backyard
the grill on fire
and dad drinking one too many.
It is in a park
on a bed of grass
with your closest friends
and a peanut butter sandwich you made from home.
It is the search for a one dollar meal,
and the man counting change at the only vacant table
is being asked to move
for your consideration.
It is in a place
where you are completely alone.
with your thoughts
and your homemade platter of wonder.
As far as I’m concerned,
I have eaten dinner at them all.

If I were a writer
I would paint you an ornate introduction of landscapes and sceneries filled with color and care.
It would be an art form.
My art form.
And the readers reading my art would care too much about the painting to even notice what happens next.
For all they care I can teach them about religion through allegory and hypocrisy sort of like Jesus did when he tried out parables.
They didn't listen then.
They don't listen now.
They're too busy glancing at the scenery,
and I'm the one painting the pictures.

Moving
If I ever left this place to go to a new place,
I'd be scared out of my mind.
I would need to take someone with me.
Someone fun.
Someone I like.
And in our new place we would make new friends and do new things.
And we would bring our new ways back to our old place whenever we visited,
and our old friends would think we became crazy
and fun
and cool
but still crazy.
I would go, but I just won't go alone.
I'd be scared out of my mind.
I would need to take someone with me.
